For Immediate Release: February 3, 2012 “Hearts for Heroes” Collection Drive for Deployed Troops Palm Bay, Florida – Palm Bay’s Port Malabar Elementary is hosting their “Hearts for Heroes” collective drive now through February 10, 2012. An annual event, “wish list” items for deployed troops are being collected and will be packaged in individual care packages and sent overseas along with letters of gratitude for all our troops do for our country. “Hearts for Heroes” is an operation founded two years ago by Port Malabar Elementary teacher, Codi Mister, who was looking for a way to provide much-needed items to deployed soldiers. Donated items such as snacks, bug spray, batteries, sunblock, and books can be dropped off at Port Malabar Elementary in Palm Bay or at the School Board offices in Viera. When asked why she embarked on this mission, Miss Mister’s answer is simple, “Freedom isn’t free. The least we can do is send them a box full of love and gratitude.” “Hearts for Heroes” operates solely on donations of items and shipping costs. Any contributions from the community or local businesses would be greatly appreciated. For a list of requested items and additional information, contact Codi Mister by phone 321-725-0070 or email beaubien.codi@brevardschools.org.
