RHS Presents Jefferson Award to Students in Action

ROCKLEDGE, FLORIDA – Rockledge Senior High School is proud to present The Jefferson Award to the following students.  The Jefferson Award recognizes superior students that not only give selfless service to the community but also have a minimum GPA of a 3.0, and no suspensions or referrals.

 

Jason Birbal

  August recipient-Jason Birbal

  • Total community service hours-423 hours.

  • Volunteered at Wuesthoff Hospital, the Brevard Zoo, and at Brevard Community College.

  • Volunteered at the hospital every weekend where he enjoyed helping the doctors the most.

  • Plans to receive his Doctorate in Research in Development at Northwestern University.

Megan Spracklin

September recipient- Megan Spracklin

  • Total community service hours-235 hours.

  • Began volunteering in seventh grade.

  •  Volunteered at Church at Viera, Wuesthoff Hospital, and Camp Lanoche as a camp counselor.

  •  Enjoys how volunteering brings on a feeling of being a part of a community.

  • Wants to enter the medical field after college.

Melissa Chambers

October recipient- Melissa Chambers

  • Total community service hours- 308 hours.

  • Began her volunteer journey in 8th grade.

  • Volunteered at the Wuesthoff Hospital Gift Shop.

  • Motivated to start volunteering due to her grandmother also volunteering at the hospital.

  • Plans to attend Brevard Community College and lead an exciting career as an Animation Designer.

Courtney Rac

November recipient- Courtney Rac

  • Total community service hours: 235 hours.

  • Volunteered at Grace Fellowship Church and during a summer camp hosted at the Marshall Arts Karate School.

  •  Motivated by the rewards from the Bright Futures Scholarship Program that she could achieve with volunteer hours.

  • Plans to attend the University of Central Florida to achieve a career in the medical field.

Laura Gamo

December recipient- Laura Gamo

  • Total community service hours-330 hours.

  • Received most of her hours from volunteering with Brevard County Parks and Recreation.

  • Tutors for organizations such as Mu Alpha Theta and Beta club, in practically every subject.

  • Returns to her elementary school and helps students there.

  • Considering attending Florida State University or University of Florida to major in International Affairs and minor in Modern Languages.
