BPS Transportation Director Named Administrator of the Year by School Bus Fleet

VIERA, FLORIDA – School Bus Fleet (SBF) named Brevard Public Schools (BPS) Transportation Director Mike Connors as the SBF 38th Administrator of the Year at the National Association for Pupil Transportation (NAPT) conference in Cincinnati, Ohio.

A 25-year veteran of the U.S. Air Force, Connors oversees a transportation department with more than 500 employees and 400 route buses, ranking it in the Top 100 School District Fleets in the nation. Connors became the Director of Transportation Services for Brevard Public Schools in December of 2000.

Assistant Transportation Director, Arby Creach, who attended the conference with Mr. Connors said, “Mr. Connors was absolutely stunned, and he thought it was a joke.  I almost had to drag him up to the stage, and then he realized it was real.  He was very touched that the team thought enough of him to send in his nomination.”

Connors is highly involved in the industry beyond our district, having just finished a two-year term as president of the Florida Association for Pupil Transportation. He has served on numerous state and national committees, and he has been a delegate to the National Congress on School Transportation. He is also one of two NAPT Certified Directors of Pupil Transportation in Florida.

SCHOOL BUS FLEET has been the voice of the school transportation industry since 1956. Each issue provides essential information on the management and maintenance of school bus fleets operated by public school districts, private schools, Head Start agencies, childcare centers and contract companies.
